2027 RAM 2500: what’s new
The 2027 RAM 2500, with official new MSRP to come, will soon arrive at Paillé Chrysler with a set of changes without turning everything upside down.
The Power Wagon gains optional beadlock-compatible rims. A real nod to serious off-road enthusiasts.
On the numbers side, the 6.4 L HEMI climbs to 410 horsepower. The Cummins HO stays with 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft, still the best diesel torque in its class.
Styling additions are also in the mix: a new “Symbol of Protest” emblem on HEMI trims, a Sport Performance hood offered by itself on Rebel and Power Wagon, and a Warn Winch now available without having to opt for a complete equipment group.
Two new colours also join the lineup: Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear-Coat.
The rest does not change. Same set of nine trims, the same robust architecture, the same solid reputation.
Capability, performance and available engines
The 2027 RAM 2500 relies on two strong engines. The 6.4 L HEMI delivers 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 6.7 L Cummins HO pushes to 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft, the best diesel torque in its class.
In practice, the HEMI suits daily and occasional use. The Cummins is for those who tow frequently and want the torque to pull heavy without straining the engine.

Both powertrains are offered in 4x2 or 4x4, with several cab and cargo bed choices, depending on trim.
We cannot provide official figures for the RAM 2500 and its fuel consumption, because Heavy Duty trucks do not receive an official NRCan rating, unlike lighter vehicles. The Tradesman is the solid base of the lineup. A pared-back, durable configuration designed for work first: fabric seats, steel rims, the essentials without frills.
The difference in price versus upper trims is mainly explained by the absence of cosmetic and comfort options, not by the powertrain. The 2027 RAM 2500 Tradesman has a spec sheet with the same engines as the rest of the lineup, with diesel optional.

The Big Horn adds a notch of comfort and style over the Tradesman: 18-inch aluminum rims, a chrome radiator grille with black inserts, chrome bumpers, and headlamps with a chrome outline. Functionally, it adds heated and power trailer rearview mirrors with integrated flashers, plus an electronic trailer brake controller.
The price difference reflects these additions, not a change in powertrain. It is often the choice for someone who wants a complete truck without aiming straight for luxury.

The Black Express focuses on style and dark colours: 20-inch black rims, a Sport Performance hood, body-colour radiator grille and bumpers. The cost of the 2027 RAM 2500 Black Express remains reasonable for the visual upgrades it brings.
It is the choice for those who want an aggressive look without paying for additional off-road capability.

Warlock emphasizes off-road style: blacked-out radiator grille, fenders and bumpers, a distinctive decal on the cargo bed, and 20-inch machined rims with 33-inch Goodyear Duratrac tires. You’ll also find Bilstein shocks, a rear anti-spin differential, and a transfer case skid plate.
It remains an entry point to the off-road spirit without the price or the extreme capability of a Power Wagon.

The Laramie marks the entry into upscale comfort: heated leather seats, 18-inch machined rims, and dual-zone automatic air-conditioning. The interior of the 2500 Laramie clearly focuses on everyday comfort.

The price gap with the Big Horn reflects this move toward comfort, without yet reaching the Limited level.

The Rebel pushes the off-road character further than the Warlock: raised suspension, reinforced underbody protection, a tougher and more assertive look.

The 6.4 L HEMI remains a proven engine, mechanically simple, with fewer ancillary systems to maintain than the diesel (no DEF and no particulate filter as demanding as the diesel’s).
For regular use without extreme towing, several owners no longer see a reason to pay the Cummins premium just for peace of mind. If you tow often and heavy, it still stands as the reference. For resale value, if that is your criterion, a diesel will probably give you a better return***.
